I designed and implemented the initial version of the Star Citizen launcher / patcher UI when Star Citizen came upon its first official release to its backers, which was the hangar module.
The patcher UI was built using CEF and thus implemented using standard HTML5 / CSS / JS. I built rather elaborate transitions between the different screens of the patcher, as well as on startup to help further embed Star Citizen's futuristic UI language as part of the actual launcher UI. I wanted the launcher to feel fluid and responsive rather than static like most other game launchers which I evaluated in the early phases of the design process.
